Mads, Dave & Sophia HypnoBirth Story
A calm, positive, natural birth
After reading the book, Dave and I understood the Hypno birthing concept and techniques, but it wasn't until we had the classes with Naomi that we felt we had the support and confidence to be able to have a drug free home birth. Naomi's classes enabled us both to think positively about the whole experience and look forward to the day we would meet our baby girl.
From the second we decided to try for a baby, the thought of a hospital birth played on my mind. I absolutely HATE hospitals, blood, injections, pain...basically everything I would previously associate with, or what I knew (or had heard from friends) about giving birth. As soon as I heard about Hypno birthing, I knew I wanted to give it a try, have a home birth and try and make it the most pleasurable experience I possibly could.

Our total birthing experience lasted about 12 hours, we did hire a birthing pool but unfortunately I was more comfortable out of the water so only spent about 20 minutes in it. We played the CD on repeat and made the house as relaxing and comfortable as possible. The only thing that kept me focused and able to stay in this state was Dave. To be completely honest, there were times in the night that I thought about going to hospital or started getting slightly scared but all I can remember is Dave being next to me the whole time and talking in my ear, bringing me back to my calm state (even if sometimes this was sub consciously). If there was one piece of advice I would give to anyone thinking about this method, it would be that THE most important and crucial part of having a calm, positive, natural birth is your birthing partner's support and how well they remember and execute all the techniques.
After my waters broke, I felt exactly how I imagined I would....my baby slowly moving downwards with each surge. The midwifes arrived with 15 mins to spare, and our baby was born with one single, small, push on our utility room floor. Within an hour, I had a bath, made coffee for the midwives and was able to completely enjoy our gorgeous baby girl in our own home.
Sofia Elizabeth Bovey arrived on her due date, 100% drug free (not even a paracetamol), with NO pushing, NO cuts/rips, NO injections, an alert mum and baby...and in our own home...a perfect, amazing birthing experience I would do all over again tomorrow.
